Vivian Colette always has always loved to sew with creativity and style. She started sewing at the age of six making clothes for her dolls. As a teenager she made her first outfit—getting ready to go out. She continued education through graduation and certification as an Alterations Tailor from the Metropolitan School of Tailoring in Chicago, IL. She’s worked at famous clothing stores like the Evans, Wieboldts, and the Apparel Center in downtown Chicago.

Vivian completed her B.F.A. from Rosary College (now Dominican University) in River Forest, IL where she had won the Senior Fashion Design Competition featuring exclusively full-figured models. While in school, she realized that most clothing sizes were limited and that full-figured women could rarely find something fashionable off the rack.

Sew Particular was created in 1985 with the full-figured/plus sized customer in mind. Vivian has been serving the community with several hundred satisfied clients.
